Getting Started

The Blood of Dawnwalker comes out 3 September 2026 as a single-player Unreal Engine 5 action RPG from Rebel Wolves, published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. You play Coen, a silver-dust miner with argyria whose failed vampire turn leaves him a Dawnwalker: human by day, vampire by night, with thirty days to pull his family out of Brencis’s coronation sacrifice. This page is the first-hour checklist. Once the Blood Mass ends, switch to How to Play for the sandbox rules and keep the Vale Sangora map open while you walk.

Confirm platform, edition, and PC

The game unlocks on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC through Steam, Xbox on PC, and GOG. Xbox Play Anywhere carries a purchase between Xbox and PC. GeForce NOW is supported at launch. Steam storefronts in some regions show 2 September because of time zones; the canonical date is 3 September 2026. PC unlocks at midnight CEST on the 3rd. Consoles unlock at midnight local. Day-one 60 FPS patches are planned for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, not Series S.

Standard is $70. Eclipse is $80 and adds soundtrack, world compendium, and comic. Collector is $200 and adds a figurine, physical compendium, map, and steelbook. Preorder includes the Sangoran Wayfarer’s Armor Set. None of those extras spend hourglass time, so pick the box you want and move on. Full SKUs sit on editions; unlock times sit on the release schedule. Storefronts are listed on official links.

PC needs 16 GB of RAM, a 60 GB SSD, Windows 10, and DirectX 12. The final minimum with an upscaler is Core i5-11400F or Ryzen 7 2700X, GTX 1060 or RX 580, 6 GB of VRAM, 1080p30 Low. Recommended for 1440p60 High with an upscaler is i7-11700K or Ryzen 7 5700X, RTX 4060, RX 7600 XT, or Arc B580, 8 GB of VRAM. 4K60 Ultra with an upscaler wants i7-12700K or Ryzen 7 7800X3D and an RTX 4070 Ti or RX 9070. There is no Denuvo. Check system requirements before preload day rather than after the first crash.

Voice is English, Polish, French, Italian, German, and Spanish. Text also covers Brazilian Portuguese, Latin American Spanish, Korean, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Turkish, Czech, and Hungarian. There is no Russian localization. Set language in the launcher before you start a save if you care about VO matching subtitles.

Difficulty, camera, and assists

There are four difficulty levels. Pick the one that lets you learn four-direction attacks without rage-quitting the first bandit pack. You can raise it later; the calendar does not care about your pride. Combat uses a close lock-on camera or a farther option. Close lock-on is kinder while you learn parry arrows. Far camera helps when two Blood Guards and a civilian occupy the same alley.

Omni-attack and omni-block assists exist for a reason. Turn them on for the prologue if directional combat is new, then peel them off once you can match an incoming yellow arrow without thinking. The combat guide explains why a perfect parry is also a spell resource. Controls lists typical keyboard, mouse, and gamepad mappings — confirm every bind in Settings before the first ruin.

Laslea’s first day is a miniature campaign

The prologue is not a hallway. You start in Laslea, the farm village, with a sick mother, a father who wants herbs, and a sundown appointment at the Blood Mass. Between dawn and that mass the day splits into eight segments, the same structure the rest of the game uses. Walking, listening, and poking at graves cost nothing. Accepting a job, pushing a story beat, or finishing an investigation spends segments. When the bar is empty, the mass starts whether or not you found the herbs.

Treat the village as a tutorial for the time system. Talk to people without taking every hourglass. Optional errands may be free; the UI tells you before you commit. If a banner for Brencis has been stolen (Gremla’s tapestry in preview builds), follow clues, footprints, and Focus highlights instead of sprinting to a marker. Rebel Wolves wants Coen to play detective, not tourist.

One early dungeon, Deep Down, sends a still-human Coen into a ruin after Lazar, a missing local. The IGN First footage above is that quest: investigation, a mural, and a fight with the Forgotten Guardian. You do not have vampire traversal yet. Learn directional swings here while the stakes are a missing villager, not a dead family. A later daytime errand, Pearly and Precious, introduces a sanzhana — the “pixie” — and is a clean place to try Ravenous Flock and Mercurial Fervour once hexes exist.

The turn, Anca’s runes, and the first night

Brencis did not pick Coen at random. The Knyaz wanted a familiar face to turn and send back against Laslea. The turn fails. Coen becomes a Dawnwalker instead of a full vrakhiri: sunlight does not burn him, but dusk still grows claws. Anca, the village healer, carves hex runes into his arm. Those scars are the Witchcraft tree. They work in daylight. At night the wounds heal, which is why hexes go inert — covered in day and night.

The first night is when hunger becomes a mechanic, not flavor. Feeding is not optional forever. Animals work. Human blood works better. If you starve Coen and walk into a conversation, he can lose control and kill the person in front of him, including a quest giver. Feed on a goat or a guard before you talk to anyone you still need alive.

Do not sprint to Greifberg Castle on night one. You can walk up to Brencis early, and you will lose. Spend the first evening learning Shadowstep, a wayside shrine, and one safe feed. Fast travel, stash, and skill unlocks all live at shrines. Leveling there costs a time segment on top of XP, so do not buy a vanity node because it glowed.

First purchases and first people

Open the ability tier list before you spend a shrine segment. A sane first week is one Witchcraft opener (Mercurial Fervour for traversal or Acrid Dust for a stun), one Swordmastery staple you will use at noon and midnight, and one Vampirism traversal node (Shadowstep range or the wolf perk for faster night travel). The build planner stops you from unlocking a night power at 11 in the morning. Weapons are short, long, and great swords; pick the length that matches how you parry, not the one with the biggest number.

Anca is the healer who already wrote on your skin. Lacra is a warrior with her own mission. Marat leads a human rebellion. Romance exists and spends time — do not start one on a whim during week one. Read allies before you promise anyone a week you do not have. The time planner is the honest version of a quest log: mark the coronation, then see what still fits.

Playtime is 50–70 hours if you chase side stories. There are 46 Steam achievements, 25 visible and 21 hidden. You will not 100 percent the valley in one 30-day calendar. That is by design. Finish Laslea, feed once, unlock a shrine, and only then open the rest of this wiki.
