The Blood of Dawnwalker Anca, Lacra, Marat, and the family

Three possible loves, a rebellion that may not be better, and a household you barely see.

Allies and Romance

Coen does not recruit a party. He makes appointments. Anca, Lacra, and Marat are the named allies who can open paths toward Greifberg, close others, or spend hourglass segments on trust and romance that the coronation will not refund. They live in Vale Sangora as people with jobs, not as followers waiting at a campfire. This page is their file. For the body you actually control, read Coen. For the court they oppose, read Brencis. The characters hub is the index.

Anca, healer and witch

Anca is the village healer in Laslea: herbs, patience, and a secret heavy enough to set her apart from the rest of the farm. She taught Coen to read and to look past the plain sentence. In the prologue you can walk to her instead of picking a fight with the Uriash and spend Blood Mass hours on Latin and medicine for his mother. That is not flavour. It is a time spend that writes their later scenes.

She is also the witch who carves hex runes into Coen’s skin. Those scars are the Witchcraft tree: day-only tools that fade when the marks heal at night. If you want a Dawnwalker who talks and hexes more than he claws, Anca is the reason that kit exists. Hands-on coverage, including IGN’s, has mentioned romancing the local witch. She is the romance candidate the previews keep circling. Romance is not a cutscene you toggle in a menu. It spends time segments the same way a shrine level-up does. Budget it on the time planner or skip it.

Trust with Anca is slow. The closer Coen gets, the clearer it becomes that she is carrying something the village is not meant to see. Push and you learn. Push on a day you needed for Marat’s raid and you learn at the cost of a rebellion beat.

Lacra, warrior on her own mission

Lacra is driven by vengeance and keeps the rest in her chest. Official bulletins describe a woman who will stop at nothing, with a past few people have earned the right to hear. Crossing her path can reveal fragments. Every step closer comes at a cost, and not every truth is meant to be uncovered. She is a warrior, which means she is useful when the valley turns into a fight. She is also a problem for anyone who thinks the only plot is Marat’s uprising.

Her personal mission can clash with the rebellion. That is the design, not a bug in the outline. If you promised Marat a coordinated strike and then spent two nights on Lacra’s hunt, you did not fail a skill check; you picked a person. Night kits from day and night pair well with her work. Day talk can still be the way you earn the next fragment. Do not assume she is a romance by default just because she is important. There are three romance options in the game; who qualifies depends on the time you actually spend, not on a wiki checklist.

Marat, rebellion with a doubt

Marat leads a rebellion against the Vrakhiri. He is courageous and charismatic. People follow him. He trusts almost none of them. Official text is blunt: he remains deeply cautious, constantly on guard, wary of betrayal. Coen has to prove worth, not show up with a sad backstory and a sword. Saving the family is Coen’s clock; proving he is not a court plant is Marat’s.

The important line is the one about the future. Marat worries that whoever replaces Brencis may be no better. That doubt is the political spine of the ally set. You can burn officer territories, raise aggression, and still install a human tyrant with a cleaner title. Skender already demonstrated that Vale Sangora does not need vampires to be cruel. If you treat Marat as a generic rebel quest hub, you will miss why some jobs are allowed to fail. He would rather a smaller, honest win than a coronation coup that repeats the blood tax under a new flag.

Romance spends the same clock as combat

There are three romance options. Previews have pointed at Anca. The other two are earned in play, not in a list of names you should spoil for yourself on day one. What matters for planning is the cost. Romance consumes time segments. So do shrine levels, story beats, and named jobs on the map. You cannot max Swordmastery, finish Marat’s trust, and complete a romance on the same thirty-day save unless you ignore large parts of the valley. That is intended. The time system is the romance system.

If a scene asks you to stay the night, believe the UI when it shows an hourglass. Feeding before a romance evening is not a joke: a starved bite can end the person you came to see. Read feeding before you treat a date as a safe house.

Family at the bookends

Coen’s father, mother, and siblings — including Lunka, whose plague and vampire-blood cure sit at the start of the story — are the reason the month exists. They are not a travelling camp. Brencis holds them for the investiture. You meet the household when the world is still a village, then you spend the sandbox trying to reach them, then you see them again when the coronation arrives. That structure is why allies matter more than a party screen. Anca, Lacra, and Marat are the people who occupy the middle of the book. Spend the middle on all of them and you will write a shallow version of each. Pick, and the ending conversation has a specific accent.

Use the characters hub to jump between Coen, the court, and this page. Use getting started for the first Laslea morning when Anca is still just the woman who taught him to read.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Who are Coen's main allies?

Anca, the village healer and witch who carved his hex runes; Lacra, a warrior with a private mission that can clash with the uprising; and Marat, the cautious leader of the rebellion against the Vrakhiri.

How many romance options are there?

Three. Hands-on previews have mentioned romancing the local witch, Anca. Romance spends time segments. It is not a free extra scene you can stack on top of a full quest list.

Can Lacra work against the rebellion?

Her personal mission can clash with Marat's plans. Helping her is a real choice with a listed duration, not a guaranteed boost to the uprising.

Why is Marat cautious of Coen?

He trusts few people and knows the court would love a familiar face inside the rebellion. Coen has to prove worth. Marat also doubts that whoever replaces Brencis would be an improvement.

Do family members join as companions?

No. The family is held for Brencis's coronation. You see them most at the beginning and the end of the thirty days.

Does helping an ally cost time?

Yes. Named jobs, trust scenes, and romance all spend hourglass segments. Walking across the map does not. Plan around the coronation, not around a completionist checklist.
